Member; Maui Nui O Kama Hula Halau ( All men’s traditional school for Hawaiian arts) We practiced traditional dance Hula, ceremony (blessings of canoes, houses, etc.), chant. Our Halau led the ceremonies for the great gathering of the Polynesian Voyaging Canoes in Nuka Hiva Marquesas Islands in 1996 under the guidance of Kumus (teachers) Kelii Taua and Charles Kaupu
Member; Lai Ula O Kai Outrigger Canoe and Polynesian Culture Club Maui Hawaii
(Participated as steersman in four Molokai Channel crossings)
Founder and Head Coach; Nantucket Outrigger Canoe Club Nantucket MA 2001-2004
(Nantucket Outrigger Canoe Club is still alive and well)
Assisted; Wounded Warrior Outrigger Canoe project Kent Island MD where we trained and escorted a team of disabled paddlers to 2006 World sprint Championships in New Zealand to compete under the guidance of Jan Whittaker ( former Olympic kayak champion).
2009-20010 Member and Assistant Coach; Makapo Outrigger Club for Blind paddlers Newport Beach CA for two seasons under the guidance of Head Coach Kirsten Hempstead /Williams
I am an avid food activist, surfer, paddler, sailor, chi qong practitioner, and wilderness walker.

Additional notes:
I am the oldest of 7 siblings and I am grateful to my mother for teaching me to read before I went to kindergarten and to my father for giving me a love of water. Both my parents and both my children have college degrees and lead very successful lives. All have been great teachers for me.
